Statement concerning the PSSP

Withdrawal from the PSSP

After discussions over a couple of weeks and a vote in the Riksdag, the government of Balder has decided to formally repeal the Pan Sinker Security Pact, removing Balder as a signatory and relieving our region of the obligations outlined within.

We came to that decision when it became fully apparent that the PSSP was no longer serving as a useful and valuable tool for Balder and her allies, restricting us from fully supporting our friends and opening us up to unnecessary criticism from regions and people who disagreed with our actions.

The PSSP was a valuable pact to us earlier in our history, serving as an effective support mechanism for the regions involved allowing them to call upon friends in times of need.

Unfortunately it is clear from recent events that the PSSP is now ineffective, impotent and unnecessary, and is having a negative effect on our relations with other regions and our ability to support them.

As always, we remain committed to our allies, and our relationships with many of them are stronger than ever. We believe with the PSSP repealed we can act more freely in their support and better see to our own needs.

I had noticed that the Riksdag had been considering this. And there had been issues prior to recent events.

Yes, it's my view as Riksdagens Talman (shared with others in Balder) that multi-regional alliances such as this are not good for Balder at this point. PSSP served a purpose when we originally signed but that time is over. Our exit from PSSP is a liberation militarily, diplomatically and politically.

Multi-regional agreements have not had a good survival rate this year. Maybe a sign of political reallignment in NS and region-focused priorities, which is probably a healthy thing.
